Why I Started Paying Attention
The idea for this blog has been sitting with me for years.
I've thought about what I would write. I've thought about what I wanted to say. I've wondered what my voice would sound like on a page and whether anyone would want to read it.
I've asked myself the same questions many people ask before they begin something new.
Who would listen?
Does anyone else think about these things?
Does anyone else find themselves wrestling with questions about family, work, purpose, relationships, and what it means to live a good life?
For a long time, those questions kept me from starting.
Then I realized the blog was never really about having answers.
It was about paying attention.
We live in a world overflowing with information. News arrives every minute. Opinions arrive even faster. We scroll, swipe, consume, react, and move on to the next thing.
Somewhere along the way, I found myself asking a different question.
What kind of life do I actually want to live?
More importantly, what kind of life do I want to model for my daughter?
One of my favorite movies includes a simple idea that has stayed with me for years: get up every day and marvel at things.
Not just the extraordinary things.
The ordinary things.
A conversation that lingers.
A lesson learned the hard way.
A question that refuses to leave.
A beautiful moment hidden inside an ordinary day.
A book that changes how you see the world.
A quiet evening with family.
A thought that arrives unexpectedly while driving down the road.
I wanted more of that.
I wanted to spend less time staring at screens and more time paying attention.
More time reading.
More time having good conversations.
More time noticing.
More time wondering.
More time being grateful for the life already in front of me.
This blog is simply a place to capture some of those observations.
Not because they are extraordinary.
But because ordinary life deserves our attention too.
